The attractive gold Philharmonics, also known as ‘Philharmonikers’ were first issued in 1989 and are a very popular bullion investment coin in Europe and elsewhere.

The obverse shows the organ of the great hall in Vienna, along with the denomination of the coin and its weight and fineness, and the date of issue. The reverse shows some of the musical instruments of the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra. The value is shown in Euros (up to 2001 it was shown in Austrian schillings, as above).

The coins are issued in the usual 1 ounce (100 euros), half ounce (€50), quarter ounce (€25) and tenth-ounce (€10) sizes. The one ounce coin is 36.5mm in diameter; all coins are .9999 pure gold.
